Following the announcement of Resolute Software’s incorporation in the U.S., we are excited to share that our organization extends its reach to the West Coast by opening an office in Portland, Oregon. Our latest hire, Brandon Nys, will be spearheading Resolute’s sales and business development initiative there. Brandon’s versatile skill set and vast experience across industries and job positions have cultivated business acumen that is instrumental in developing from scratch Resolute’s presence in the area.
Brandon received his formal education in Business Administration and Accounting at the Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon, USA, which set him up for success at the position of the General Manager of a labeling compliance company Kasama where he also became a subject-matter expert in labeling with OSHA, ANSI/ASME, NFPA and GHS standards, as well as general safety and productivity best practices through Lean methods. Previously, he served as the Project Manager and UI/UX designer of LabelSuite labeling software, managing a team with local and remote members. In this role, he developed machinery, products, and processes across all functional areas of the company.
A passionate learner and a meticulous researcher, Brandon is proficient with many technologies and software solutions. At Creative Safety Supply, he helped grow the company from a 5-person startup resale company to a full-fledged manufacturing entity with over 70 employees and more than $17m in annual revenue.
“I derive a lot of pride from the success of the team and its members. I’m excited to be a member of the Resolute team, to be able to use my experience and knowledge to support the team and our clients”.
We asked Brandon a few questions to understand his drive and objectives now that’s he is officially part of the Resolute team:
You have a vast, diverse work experience behind your back. What have you enjoyed the most?
I have had the opportunity over my career to be involved in nearly every facet of an organization, which has allowed me to develop a wide skillset and see things from a variety of perspectives. When I think about the most enjoyable moments I’ve had in my career, I think about the success of the team and the successful delivery to the customer. I have an innate ability to understand systems and have made a career out of investigating problems, developing solutions, and helping people acquire the tools they need to develop and grow.
What are you passionate about outside work?
I am an avid beer enthusiast and homebrewer. I am a founding member of my local homebrew club, Aloha Brewers Club. We meet once a month and share our beers, solicit feedback, and learn from each other to become better homebrewers. I haven’t won any awards yet, but I’m working on it! My goal is to open a microbrewery some day in the future.
What would you say is your core competence? What are you really good at?
I feel like my core competence is kind of multi-part: I’m an authentically curious person, and love to learn new things. I’m resourceful in acquiring knowledge, and love to use and share what I learn. I believe this makes me a great collaborator. I truly enjoy developing relationships with people and working with them to solve problems. In a business environment, I thrive when I can use my knowledge to align with a client’s organizational goals and drive continuous improvement.
What did you think of Resolute’s recruitment process?
The recruitment process was pretty straightforward! It took a bit longer than I’m used to, but I felt that the extended timeframe was a deliberate effort to make sure we were the right fit for each other.
Did you get to meet Resolute’s leadership before you accepted the offer? What impression did they make on you?
I had known Hristo (Hristo Georgiev, Resolute’s CEO and Co-Founder) from many years ago when I was a client of his at New Venture Software. I have been consistently impressed with his ability to manage people and projects, so when he approached me to be a part of his team, I was very excited and honored. I recently met Veli (Veli Pehlivanov, CTO and Co-founder) was immediately impressed with his immense technical knowledge and superior communication. I’m confident that he is a passionate team leader and adept technologist.
Why did you choose Resolute Software? What did you like about the company that made you accept the offer?
I chose to accept a position at Resolute Software because, from the outset, Hristo and Sean gave me the feeling that Resolute really cares about more than just business. I quickly recognized that the company embraces a culture of humanity, trust and transparency both internally and externally. This is a big deal to me. The management of Resolute understands that when people are happy, they are free to do their best work. Additionally, there is a clear drive to do the best work possible for the client, which aligns with me deeply.
What are your job responsibilities as a Business Developer Manager directly reporting to VP of Sales?
At the core, my job is to build relationships. I get to meet new people, ask a lot of questions, and build interest in the immense talent that Resolute has to offer.
What do you think would be the biggest challenge for you at Resolute Software? What do you imagine to be easy?
I think the biggest challenge for me will be adjusting to remote work life. Being on my own in Portland, Oregon, I direct my own work and schedule. It can feel a little isolating, but the team in Sofia is so welcoming and keeps me involved in the day-to-day happenings, so I don’t feel like I’m on an island. This, and keeping up with the pace of ever-changing technology and trends in the development world is going to be challenging.
I already feel highly supported and have learned so much thus far that it kind of makes everything feel easy. Everyone I’ve met has shown the utmost professionalism and desire to support each other. It’s an extremely cohesive team.
Welcome aboard, Brandon! The entire Resolute team is very happy to have you! We hope you will have a fantastic time working with us.
