Web development is moving fast and changing the landscape for all kinds of developers. Adding to that all upgrades Microsoft is making to Visual Studio and .NET, it’s more important than ever to stay on top of what’s happening in the .NET universe. Every year Visual Studio Magazine brings together experts in the .NET community for an exclusive half-day summit diving deep into the latest trends and exciting new technologies.
This year we were guests on the Visual Studio magazine What’s New & What’s Hot in .NET Virtual Summit. Our CTO, Veli Pehlivanov, introduced the software consultant’s approach to modernizing legacy .NET apps, sharing some techniques for modernization that our IT consultants at Resolute Software follow.
"Businesses could have many incentives to modernize legacy .NET applications. Pressure could build up internally in organizations due to complex systems becoming hard to maintain, teams losing critical development talent, or performance issues stacking up. There could also be external pressures – mainly in the form of tough competition or users demanding faster apps, use anywhere capabilities, and better digital experiences. Technology obsolescence (in the case of Silverlight or even Web Forms, for example) could also create strong pressure to modernize business systems completely and methodically.
As software consultants, we go beyond our personal preferences for language, framework, and development patterns. We assess multiple feasible technology choices for our clients, recommending one or more best suited for the technical requirements at hand."
