ClickHome, a leading Australian construction software provider based in Perth, offers a comprehensive platform that supports residential building companies across every stage—from first client interaction to post-build maintenance. To stay competitive and future-ready, ClickHome partnered with Resolute Software to migrate their core application from Xamarin to .NET MAUI. Resolute delivered a modern, high-performing, and maintainable solution tailored for the evolving

Challenge

ClickHome’s legacy Xamarin application had begun to show signs of strain—most notably in performance and user experience. The software used by site supervisors suffered from glitches and sluggishness, limiting productivity in the field. With Microsoft announcing the end of Xamarin support by May 1, 2024, and Apple’s shift to a faster iOS release cycle, ClickHome faced increased risk of security vulnerabilities, higher maintenance costs, and a growing inability to support new platforms.

Additionally, the platform maintained separate codebases for iOS and Windows tablet applications, making updates complex and costly. An earlier outsourcing partner had failed to meet expectations for usability and UX, prompting ClickHome to engage with Resolute for a more capable and future-proof solution.

Solution

Resolute conducted a full assessment of ClickHome’s technology stack and core product—a Xamarin-based on-site operations tool for construction supervisors. While Xamarin as a framework had potential, the lack of specific expertise had held the application back. Resolute identified this gap and proposed a migration to .NET MAUI to unify the codebase and optimize for cross-platform use.

The Resolute team rebuilt the application to target both iOS and Windows devices through a single codebase. This new architecture allows faster releases, easier maintenance, and a consistent user experience across platforms. Back-end APIs and server connections were also modernized to better support real-time operations and scalability.

Results

The modernization delivered measurable improvements:

  • Streamlined field operations: The rebuilt “call sheet” dramatically improved workflow for site supervisors, allowing them to efficiently manage and inspect 10–15 construction sites per day.

  • Reduced maintenance costs: A unified codebase replaced the previous dual-platform setup, simplifying updates and reducing technical debt.

  • Improved product quality:Enhanced code structure and asset quality laid a foundation for faster innovation and future feature development.

  • Market competitiveness: The application now offers a robust, browser-based experience that is easier to maintain and quicker to adapt to market changes.
